Who Cares About Privacy?

Data Privacy Day January 28th28th January, also known as Data Privacy Day, helps to raise awareness and to remind employers, employees and consumers just how much data we share about ourselves and how to do it safely.

Data from shopping to banking, to going to the doctor or simply posting on Facebook, the exchange of personal data has become unavoidable in everyday life. Your personal data is like gold in the digital world and it belongs to you. Who you share it with could end up harmless or put yourself in a big mess?

In the counterfeiting world it is never guaranteed that the data is given on fake websites to buy counterfeit goods is secure and safe. Counterfeiters do not care about your personal data.

Young people and young adults do care despite conventional wisdom that young people don’t really care about privacy, surveys show that those between 13 and 35 years old do care about their privacy and the importance of maintaining control over their personal information.

When it comes to caring about online privacy and taking steps to protect it, the stereotype that younger adults care less than older adults just isn’t accurate. That’s underscored by Cisco’s Consumer Privacy Survey that found 48% of those surveyed had switched away from companies because of data policies.
