ACG Raid Actions Seized Tens of Thousands of Fake and Potentially Dangerous Goods.

10 December 2021

Over the last two weeks, in a collaborative effort to reduce the availability of counterfeit goods, the Anti-Counterfeiting Group (ACG), and members have supported local and National Trading Standards teams across the country on raid actions that have netted tens of thousands of fake and potentially dangerous goods.

Actions in Warwickshire, Coventry, Leicester, Camden, Southall and Bedfordshire tackled the sale of fake goods at markets, residential and commercial premises and on-line platforms, seizing toys, clothing, footwear, electrical products, handbags, jewellery and accessories valued in excess of £3 million

Graham Mogg, Intelligence Coordinator at the ACG, who took part in the actions, said ‘’The proliferation of counterfeit goods in the marketplace in the run up to Christmas severely undermines legitimate businesses and places consumers at risk.

This is not a victimless crime! Potentially unsafe counterfeit goods often cause serious injury to consumers and the sale of fake goods allows unscrupulous criminals to make vast sums of money, robbing the public purse of much needed funds.

The ACG is committed to supporting legitimate rights owners and the law enforcement agencies trying to combat this threat.

We are very grateful to Warwickshire, Camden, Birmingham, Ealing and Central Bedfordshire Trading Standards departments and the National Trading Standards teams (CENTSA RIT, EETSA RIT, NTSIT and NTSeCT) for taking these actions’
